Gerald Feschuk

P.Eng.

Gerald Feschuk is a Special Advisor at WaterSMART where he focuses on regulatory strategy, permitting and liability management. He has worked for more than 30 years in the environmental and engineering sector, gaining specific experience and expertise in the areas of regulatory systems and oversight, compliance assurance, liability and risk management, environmental remediation, business development, governance, staff leadership, and environmental and petroleum engineering.

Gerald has held leadership roles in compliance assurance and advisory services at both the Government of Alberta and the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). He has also worked in technical roles as an environmental engineer and investigator and was a key player in the development of significant pieces of environmental legislation in Alberta.

Gerald was also a Senior Industrial Approvals Engineer and worked on upstream, midstream, pulp and paper, power generation, agricultural processing and chemical manufacturing facilities. He possesses a deep understanding of what it takes to comply with industrial environmental permitting in Western Canada.

In addition to his roles in the field and in office settings within the energy industry across Canada and the United States, Gerald also spent 17 years as an active and silent partner and founder of exploration and production companies, as well as several upstream and downstream waste companies.

Actively interested in helping further his profession, Gerald has served on the boards and policy committees of H2Sweet, EIM Catalyst Recovery, Alberta Innovates, One Environmental Inc., C2 Environmental, and the APEGA Registration Committee.

He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, having obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Petroleum Engineering, from the University of Alberta in 1984.
