Robert Hough

B.Sc., M.Sc.

Robert is an Project Manager who joined the WaterSMART team in 2019. He is a graduate of the University of Surrey’s Water and Environmental Engineering Master’s program where he gained valuable experience in water and waste water treatment plant design, groundwater well design, and oil sands tailings treatment. While in this program, Robert also completed his dissertation on flood mapping of the Kootenay river.

In addition to his degree work, Robert has a broad range of experience in the automotive and downstream oil industries where he focused on making fossil fuel burning products more efficient and environmentally friendly. He is also the co-inventor of a patent for a more environmentally friendly blend of detergent additives for marine two-stroke engines.

At WaterSMART, Robert focuses on writing and research support for projects, including water risk analysis and mitigation options to develop flood and drought resiliency in the face of climate change. He also supports meetings and workshops through minute taking and preparation, maintaining and updating action registers, coordinating large groups of participants, and scheduling.

Robert received his Master of Science (M.Sc) in Water and Environmental Engineering, and his Bachelor of Science, Honours, (B.Sc) in Chemistry, both from the University of Surrey.
