Terry Mah
Ph.D
Terry joined the WaterSMART Advisory Board in 2018, bringing his broad, international industry experience that includes more than 20 years of leadership in the environmental sector. He focuses on delivering technology, innovation, services and practices to support sustainability, resilience, and circular economics around water, energy and resources.
After studying at the University of Calgary and graduating from the University of British Columbia with a B.SC. and M.Sc. in Microbiology and a Ph.D. in Engineering, Terry held a number of executive positions in biotech, technology, and environmental services organizations
A large part of Terry’s career was spent with Veolia, the world’s largest environmental services firm, where he held a number of executive positions that included management of different technology and EPC platforms, managing parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East as the Chief Operating Officer of the global water technology division, and acting as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Veolia’s North American water, energy and waste business.
The experience gained from supporting communities and industries to understand their resource challenges, align interests, leverage innovation, and design and implement pragmatic solutions provided Terry with the unique ability to develop practical solutions to manage complex environmental challenges. As a result, he has been invited to provide keynote addresses on the topics of sustainability and putting the circular economy to work with several prominent groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation
Terry brings this comprehensive operational experience to the WaterSMART board, where he helps develop strategic opportunities and strategies for the organization.
