Matthew Jones
PhD, PE
Pairing his interest in the natural world with his aptitude for problem-solving, building things, and physics, Matthew Jones earned his undergraduate degree in biological engineering . He gravitated toward the environmental applications of his program early on and was introduced to stormwater engineering during his freshman year.
Matthew joined Hazen in 2009 ready to help the Firm grow the scope of its stormwater portfolio. Hazen’s collaborative nature and emphasis on tailored, sustainable solutions to support client needs aligned with Matthew’s aspirations—and continue to do so today. “The communities we serve have significant challenges with changes in development, climate, and other factors,” says Matthew. “It’s exciting that we can come in to define what the problems are and see what we can do to help.”
Outside of work, Matthew can often be found enjoying his two sons’ and twin daughters’ various activities. When he’s not coaching youth basketball, attending dance recitals, or leading a woodworking activity with his Cub Scout group, he’s most likely enjoying a family hike or camping trip in the natural settings that have been foundational to his career.
