Robert Hough

M.Sc., B.Sc.

Robert is a Senior Principal Scientist who joined the WaterSMART team in 2019. Robert is passionate about the environment and the sustainable use of water. Since joining WaterSMART, his main focus has been ensuring water supply and security in the face of climate change. This has led to successful projects in water risk analysis and mitigation options to develop flood and drought resiliency, as well as sustainable water supply for oil and gas and resource industries. Robert provides a range of services including project management, drought condition analysis and water security strategy.

Robert has a broad range of experience in beyond water from the automotive and downstream oil industries, where he focused on making fossil fuel burning products more efficient and environmentally friendly. He is also the co-inventor of a patent for a more environmentally friendly blend of detergent additives for marine two-stroke engines.

Robert received his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Water and Environmental Engineering, and his Bachelor of Science, Honours, (B.Sc). in Chemistry, both from the University of Surrey, England.
