The Opportunity – Intermediate Project Manager
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to join our Calgary, Alberta office. The successful candidate will serve as a project management leader: working directly with watershed and water resource clients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to business development efforts across Alberta and Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute projects in the areas of Watershed Management, Water Resources Strategy and Integrated Planning
- Regularly engage with clients on all project matters for the full project life cycle
- Responsible for project controls and internal systems
- Plan workshops and lead facilitated meetings and group conversations
- Lead project teams of junior and / or technical resources
- Prioritize and delegate assignments
- Support proposal development as requested
- Engage in client development and management supported by local offices
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental sciences. Master’s degree in a related discipline preferred
- Professional Engineer or Environmental Professional
- 7-10 years experience, including at least 5 years project management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail
- Superior technical writing skills
- Experience and confidence in meeting facilitation
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Alberta regulatory frameworks, water licencing and water-related Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and cascading regulations
- Experience in an engineering consulting organization a significant asset
