As a Project Manager or Project Engineer with WaterSMART, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of high-profile water management consulting projects. This position will suit individuals with strong collaborative project management and client engagement experience, combined with water-related technical skills – ideally in hydrological modelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Take on a project leadership role and provide project support, as assigned:
- Engage with stakeholders, working to incorporate perspectives from different sectors; which may include municipalities, government, industry, NGOs, and other organizations as required.
- Prepare, update, and manage project scoping documents, workplans, budgets, and schedules.
- Use project management tools, methods, and best practices to plan and manage projects in a way that aligns with the expectations of stakeholders and meet business needs.
- Coordinate and provide direction to staff participating in assigned projects.
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external project meetings.
- Prepare project proposals, reports and communication materials.
- Provide expertise to a variety of projects as needed.
- Participate in business development opportunities.
- Provide technical writing and editing support as requested.
- Attend bi-weekly project management meetings and present project updates to team members.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Attend (may also present at) occasional conferences and seminars.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum BSc in Engineering, Environmental Science, Earth Science or Hydrology
- Additional education and/or experience related to hydrology, water management and/or environmental planning
- At least 3 years’ project management experience
Competencies
- Strong project management skills (scheduling, budgeting, staffing, meeting deadlines, client interactions)
- Excellent speaking and presentation skills
- Experience engaging with clients other interested parties in a collaborative environment
- Experience with multi-stakeholder project work an advantage
- Hydrological modelling experience a significant asset
- Understanding of water management issues and climate adaption principals
- Excellent writing skills
- Fully proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software
- Experienced in Data collection
- Structural engineering background an asset.
Working Conditions
- This position is a full time, hybrid position based in Calgary. (averaging 3 days a week in office)
- Some travel will be required
