Ryan Berg’s college studies confirmed the deep interests in water and engineering he’d previously developed, and he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering.

Ryan’s interests in working on large-scale structures and high-level strategy were paired with a desire to travel internationally. He would go on to lead projects in the U.S. as well as Asia, Australia, Africa, and Italy. Many of these projects focused on dam-related and hydroelectric power work, further cementing his expertise in designing, evaluating, and leading efforts related to hydraulic structures.

Hazen’s emphasis on creating sustainable water solutions that positively impact communities for the long-term also aligns with Ryan’s professional motivations. “It makes the work a lot more exciting and fun when it doesn’t just benefit one person, but entire communities,” he shared.

Outside of Ryan’s professional life, he enjoys watching his two sons and two daughters participate in their many sports and theater activities. He can also be found keeping his lifelong love of basketball alive through officiating regional high school and college games.
