“The town of Cochrane, 15 kilometres northwest of Calgary, is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Alberta. Facing a growing population and an increasingly taxed water supply, the community turned to an unlikely water source: the Girl Guides of Canada.”

“Most of the water in Alberta’s south came under new restrictions in the form of no new applications for water licenses being accepted. Those restrictions created a water market, where water rights are bought and sold.”
