WaterSMART CEO Kim Sturgess Receives Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal

CALGARY (February 14, 2023) – A commemorative medal was created to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal will be awarded to 7,000 Albertans to recognize significant contributions to the province. On February 8, Kim Sturgess, Founder and CEO of WaterSMART Solutions, and Founder and Executive Director of the Alberta WaterPortal Society, was awarded her medal among friends, family, and colleagues.

The following quote was used at the ceremony as Kim received her medal.

Kim Sturgess is the founder and CEO of WaterSMART Solutions Ltd., a services organization committed to improving water management through better technologies and practices, and the Alberta WaterPortal, a water education and awareness website. She has led the development of collaborative watershed management models and systems over the last 17 years and has supported water management planning in industry and government. She served on the boards of the Alberta Water Council and the Alberta Chamber of Resources. Her happy place is camping beside the mighty Athabasca River in Jasper. Kim is a Member of the Order of Canada.
